Pakistan secures long-awaited victory over England in Multan Test

The third and final Test match will take place in Rawalpindi from October 24th.

Pakistan has finally ended their winless home streak with a commanding 152-run victory over England in the second Test at Multan Cricket Stadium. This landmark achievement follows a challenging period for the team, marking their first home win since 2021.

Led by Shan Masood, Pakistan had faced a tough stretch in Test cricket, playing 24 matches since their last home triumph and managing just eight wins. These victories included two each against Zimbabwe and Bangladesh, three against Sri Lanka, and one against the West Indies. However, the team also endured 12 defeats, with key losses to top sides like Australia and England, as well as four drawn matches against Australia and New Zealand.

In the second Test, Pakistan seized control from the outset. After posting 366 runs in their first innings, the home side bowled out England for 291, gaining a 75-run advantage. Noman Ali and Sajid Khan were the stars with the ball in England’s second innings, taking eight and two wickets, respectively, to secure a dominant victory for Pakistan.

In the first innings, England’s bowlers put up a solid effort, with Matthew Potts claiming two wickets and Brydon Carse picking up three. However, Sajid Khan was the standout performer for Pakistan, taking seven wickets for 111 runs, while Noman Ali added three crucial wickets in the same innings.

In their second innings, Pakistan put up 221 runs, with Salman Ali Agha contributing a steady 63. England’s bowlers, including Jack Leach and Shoaib Bashir, struggled to contain the Pakistani batsmen, with Leach taking three wickets and Bashir picking up four.

The game shifted decisively in England’s second innings when opener Zak Crawley was dismissed for just three runs, followed soon after by Ben Duckett, who fell for a duck off Sajid Khan’s third ball of the over. This early collapse left England in disarray as they attempted to chase Pakistan’s lead.

Sajid Khan’s outstanding performance, taking a total of nine wickets in the match, earned him the Player of the Match award. This victory provides a crucial morale boost for Shan Masood’s side, which has been struggling with a series of recent defeats.
